NAME
       empgui - invoke the EMPRESS GUI

SYNOPSIS
       empgui [-q] [-pcm] database [application [parameter...]]

       empgui -m [-q] [-pcm] database application

       empgui -c [-q] database module [module ...]

       empgui -l [-q] database application [application ...]

DESCRIPTION
       This  command  invokes  the EMPRESS GUI.  If an application name is not
       provided, the GUI application development environment will  be  invoked
       with the specified database.  The database specified must be an EMPRESS
       database initialized for Empress GUI.  If an application is  specified,
       and  options  other  than -q are not specified it will be executed.  If
       the application expects parameters, they must be supplied.

       -q        Quiet mode. The EMPRESS startup screen is not shown.  In  the
                 case of compile or link, no message will be printed.

       -m        Application  Module  Manager.  Go directly to the Application
                 Module Manager, bypassing the Application Manager screen, for
                 the application specified.

       -c        Force compile of the module(s) specified.

       -l        Link  the  modules of the specified application(s), compiling
                 the modules if necessary.

       -pcm      Use a private color map.

DIAGNOSTICS
       Error diagnostics are printed if no database is specified,  or  if  the
       database is not in EMPRESS GUI format.
