NAME
empolbak - perform on-line backup of an Empress database

SYNOPSIS
       empolbak [-b] [-f] [-v] [blocksize] [file] database

DESCRIPTION
Online backup is a procedure designed to allow the database administra-
tor to back up the database to an offline medium without stopping all
database activity. empolbak is responsible for performing the backup
and for coordinating all updates including those involved in transac-
       tions.

Note that all options must be specified before the arguments of any of
the options, and that the arguments must be specified in the same order
       as the options.

-b Use the next argument as the blocking factor for tape back-
ups; each block is 512 bytes.

-f Use the next argument as the name of the backup file or tape
                 device.

-v Verbose. Normally, empolbak does its work silently. When
this option is specified, empolbak displays each phase of the
backup as it is started, as well as the name of each database
                 file as it is archived.
