NAME
empsv - brings up the Empress database Server

SYNOPSIS
       empsv server_name [server_log_file]

DESCRIPTION
This command will bring up the named Empress Database Server. If
server_log_file file is specified, the logging message wil be recorded
in the file that is specified. Otherwise, the loggin message wil be
printed in the current directory under the name server_name.log.

empsv will use the Server Configuration File (SCF) pointed to by the
Empress environment variable MSSERVERCONFIGFILE to determine the char-
acteristics of the Server such as the network name where the Server
will reside, the name of the Server administrator and the the number of
       sub-Server processes.

The Server will be brought up on the current node. A process for the
Server spooler as well as for each Server sub-process specified in the
SCF, will be brought up in background. This can be confirmed with the
ps (process status) command on UNIX systems.

Empsv can be run by any Empress user.

WARNING: The Server associated with a database must be started with the
empsv command before the database is accessed.
