Using the Distributed Server has only a minimal impact in most situations when running Empress. However, there are certain implications to consider when using the Distributed Server, such as Empress functions that cannot use the server.
Most accesses to an Empress database will be carried out transparently by the server. However, not all Empress functions may be run via the Distributed Server. Functions that create, remove, rename or directly access a database directory cannot use the Distributed Server.
The following functions can be run using the Distributed Server:
emp4gl emp4bldx emp4ctdb emp4prt empadm empcc empdbld empesql empecc empef77 empexpt |
empf77 empimpt empisocv emprepwr empshm empsql empbatch empcmd empsvadm empvers empwarm |
The following functions cannot be run on a database which is accessed using the Distributed Server:
emp4init emparch empcnvt empmkdb |
emprecov emprmdb empsv |
