CHAPTER 4: Packaging and Installation


All Empress products and documentations (in HTML format) for Version 8.62 are packaged
in a single CD-ROM. The installation procedure was made as simple as step 1, 2, 3:

For Unix:

  1. Mount the CD-ROM and change to the mounted device/directory
  2. Type in: sh install.sh
  3. Answer prompted questions
If you have browser running on the system, the installation will be done through the browser. Products will be installed based on the Installation Key provided.

For Win32:

  1.  Insert CD into CD-ROM drive
  2.  System will Auto-run the install program
  3.  Follow the instruction
Empress executables are distributed in binary format so that the installation will be seamless and it will not require the use of a compiler; however, a C compiler is required if you run the test suite or intend to use any of the Host Language Interface for development such as mr, mx Embedded or Dynamic SQL, or ODBC Interface.
